Slack channel ID invalid when setting up Slack Bot Destination in Panther

Issue

When I try to connect the Slack Bot alert destination to my Slack server, Panther refuses the Slack channel ID.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use the channel name rather than the channel ID in Step 5 of the setup documentation here. If this doesn't resolve the issue, please contact the Panther support team.

Cause

This issue can occur when a private Slack channel was originally a private group chat. Panther only accepts Slack channel IDs that start with "C" for security reasons, and old private groups have IDs that start with "G."
