How do I prevent Panther System Error alerts from triggering our pager system?

A Panther System Error triggered a Critical alert, which was sent to all our alert destinations — including our pager system. How do I configure System Errors so they don't trigger our pager notifications?

ANSWER

Panther System Errors will always have a CRITICAL severity level—and be sent to alert destinations configured to receive System Errors, even if they are not configured to receive alerts with a CRITICAL severity.

To prevent getting paged for System Errors alerts, we recommend doing the following:

  1. Removing the System Errors Alert Type from your existing Alert Destination(s).

  2. Creating a dedicated Alert Destination specifically configured to receive System Errors alerts, and keep it disconnected from your pager system.

    • Please ensure that you only select System Errors for Alert Types, and don't add any Severity or Log Types.
