How does the column "LAST UPDATED DATA" of a lookup table gets populated in Panther?

QUESTION

I have created a lookup table that syncs via S3 with a defined cadence of one hour but noticed that the column "LAST UPDATED DATA" of the lookup table doesn't follow the defined sync period. How does this column get populated?

ANSWER

Panther automatically detects changes in your S3 lookup table files. A lookup table is updated only when the corresponding S3 file changes. If any value in the file is modified (including minor changes), the "LAST UPDATED DATA" column will be refreshed and an update will be triggered. This behavior can be validated by manually pressing the Sync button in your Lookup table.
