Error message "rule has an invalid log type" when uploading to Panther

Issue

When uploading a rule to Panther I get the error message "rule has an invalid log type". 

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  • Please check that you are running the most recent version of the Panther Analysis Tool.
  • Please check that the spelling of your schema name is correct in the YAML specification file of the rule that you are uploading.
  • Please ensure that the schema you are using already exists in the Panther Console when you perform the uploading of your rule.

Cause

This issue could mean that either the spelling of the schema name in the rule specification YAML file is wrong or that the schema does not exist in the Panther Console at the time of the upload.
