Does Panther offer out-of-the-box detections to detect sensitive data in logs?
QUESTION
Does Panther offer out-of-the-box detections to detect sensitive data (ie. PII, PCI, PHI, social security numbers, credit card numbers) across multiple log sources? We know we can mask sensitive data fields, but would like an additional monitor in case masking fails.
ANSWER
Panther does not currently offer out-of-the-box detections to detect sensitive data in logs. This type of use case is better suited for a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tool, such as Google Cloud Platform's Sensitive Data Protection service, which specializes in discovering sensitive data.
