Why can't I assign certain users to Panther alerts from Slack?


When I try to assign a user to a Panther alerts from Slack, I get the following error:
Unable to assign the alert to (user). Please verify (user) has a Panther account with the same email address as their Slack account.


To resolve this issue:

  • Make sure that the user's email address in Panther is an exact match to their email address in Slack.
  • Check whether the user requires a password change in Panther.
    • In the Panther Console, go to Settings > Users. Search for the user name and check for "FORCE CHANGE PASSWORD" in the Status column.
    • Ask the user to change their password, or delete and re-add the Panther user, then attempt to assign the alert to them again.


This issue can occur when a Panther account has enforced SSO, and the individual user in Panther requires a password change.
